NORDSTROM SALE: MY TOP 10 | THE FIRST ITEMS I’M ADDING TO CART

Alright loves, it’s Nordstrom sale season! Each year I love covering the sale, but I like to be selective in what I share. I will only share items that are at the very top of my list- and there are quite a few this year! I have a bigger roundup divided into category coming by the end of the week, but the sale started for Icon Cardholders today and I’ve already gotten a few requests for my picks!

This year you can preview the sale a little early and add to a wish list, which is a great idea. I love shopping this sale and still wear quite a few things from last year! There are even more good finds this year in my opinion.

  1. Zella High Waist Crop Leggings: $45.90 (originally $65) I always pick up a pair of Zella leggings during the sale! They are great quality leggings that I wear so often. I absolutely love the waist on these!
  2. Faux Leather Jacket: $49 (originally $88) We wear a lot of jackets here and San Francisco and I know I’ll get a ton of use out of this one! Comes in black as well. Live in my faux leather jackets!
  3. Platform Combat Boot: $99 (originally $180) Combat boots are here to stay. I foresee myself wearing these quite a bit come Fall months.
  4. Baker Boy Cap: $31 (originally $49) So trendy and cute! I love these hats as they pair perfectly with chunky Fall sweaters.
  5. Set of 2 Stud Earrings: $39 (originally $69) I always wear studs and I love the shape of both. Simple but will get lots of wear.

The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays! We typically head up to Sonoma for an annual parade and fireworks celebration. This year may look a little different, but I’m still in the mood to celebrate in style!

I’m still deciding what to wear this year, but you can never go wrong with a red, white or blue dress paired with sandals or white sneakers! Throw on a pair of white sunnies and a cute patriotic little bag and you’re ready to go.

I also picked up this USA hat from Amazon (next day delivery) and this cute little swimmie. Pair the hat with denim shorts, a white top and red lip!

These trunks are so cute for the guys! Jeff has a few of these $6 white tees and you can’t go wrong year round. Also thought this blue and white button up shirt was cute if he’s heading out of the house for a celebration.

LET’S TALK DERMAL FILLERS | Q&A WITH MY NURSE!

Have you guys seen all the memes lately about how everyone will look after quarantine since salons, spas and medical offices are closed for a few weeks (hoping not more)? Not being able to go get our hair done, nails done or any beauty upkeep for weeks is a scary thought! I already have a list of appointments I need to make once everything opens up again. An appointment (or a few appointments) at Epi Center Med Spa are at the top of the list!

Today I wanted to share more about my experience with dermal fillers. I’ve shared about botox on THIS POST, but I recently got dermal fillers under my eyes which I wanted to go more in depth about today.

I posted a few Instagram stories while getting the treatment and received a ton of questions from you all, so I am answering them here today with help from my Nurse Minela from Epi Center.

Fillers and botox are both something that people don’t talk about often but a lot of people are interested in. I can tell from the flood of replies you all had on IG! Below are some of the most popular questions you all had asked.

Q: What did you have done?

A: I was noticing a lot of volume loss under my eye and above my cheekbones from age so I decided to get filler for a more youthful and plump look.

First we numbed the area and then the nurse injects the filler underneath the skin, massages it, and evaluates the results and need for additional filler. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the entire procedure usually last 5-30 minutes and you can go back to your normal activities right after the treatment.

Q: Did you use restylane? How many units?

A: Yes! We did mid-cheek filler with restylane lyft. We used 1 syringe total (1ml); .5ml to each mid cheek. After that, we added an additional syringe of restylane (regular), 1 ml total (.5ml to each tear trough using a cannula technique.

Q: Why use a cannula technique?

A: It minimizes any bruising. I actually had zero bruising and just a tiny bit of swelling after my treatment! You can read more about the cannula technique here.

Q: How often do you need to get it done?

A: The filler should last anywhere between 8-12 months. It’s important to note regarding duration and longevity that it depends on the amount of filler thats done to reach full correction. Essentially, if someone wants to do 1 syringe it may not last them the recommended longevity as they needed more syringes to reach full correction to begin with. This is one of the biggest misconceptions according to my nurse Minela.

Q: What is the difference between botox and dermal fillers?

A: Botox and alternatives like Jeuveau, Dysport and Xeomin are not fillers, but nueromodulators used to treat wrinkles that naturally occur around the eyes, mouth and in between eyebrows. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause the lines. Dermal filler, on the other hand add volume to the depressions around the corners of mouth, lips, temples, chin and cheekbones while enhancing those features. Once injected, it will replenish your natural hyaluronic acid, which diminishes as you age. Fillers will give your skin a plump, smooth, hydrated look and can work in tandem with Botox to rejuvenate the face.

Q: On a scale of 1-10 how painful?

A: Under eye/ cheekbone filler was not very painful for me, however I was extremely numb. I would say it is slightly more painful than botox because of the sensitivity of the area and it takes a bit longer than botox. I would give it a 4 on the pain scale. Lip filler is much more painful in my opinion. This was rather easy and quick, especially if you have a great nurse to take your mind off of the injection!

I am so happy with the results from this treatment! I notice a huge difference, but to the average eye the change in minimal meaning I dont look drastically different (which I like!) I’m sure all of you are lounging around the house in a cozy pair of sweats, like myself. I haven’t worn any other clothes, makeup or done my hair in about a week now, and while it feels quite strange it has been a nice little break. Seems like a good time to take self care seriously. I don’t think I’ve done so many face masks in my life. I’ve also been letting my hair air dry which I rarely do in hopes to grow and strengthen my locks. Aside from that, I’ve been doing a lot of exercise, stretching and wearing lots of cozy sets, separates, slipper etc. So let’s talk loungewear! 

I fell in love with this cute little set from Michael Stars when I saw it online and it’s even cuter AND softer in person! The pants fit so well, and the top has a fun little sleeve action. Comes in multiple colors. I did a little bra tuck for a fun little look. 

I just ordered this top and these sweatpants from Target. I am loving the tie die trend, especially in a light color. I also love the color of this sweatshirt and another fun tie dye number.

This is my favorite pajama set which I wear often, and I also love this shorts version.

I’ve had my eye on this and this pair of sweatpants, and I recently styled these on my Instagram which are fun!

Let’s not forget about accessories. I can’t live without my silk pillowcase, silk scrunchies and my favorite eye patches. This blanket is the absolute softest and we love this diffuser. Here is the full roundup:

OUR WEDDING POSTPONEMENT DUE TO COVID-19

I recently shared the following on Instagram, but today I wanted to go a little more in depth post about our wedding postponement due to COVID-19.

From Instagram: I got an alert today on my phone that said “35 days until you get to marry the love of your life”. I wish that was still the case, but God has a different plan for us. We made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding due to what the world is enduring at this time. The city of San Francisco helped us with this decision, but we know it’s the right thing to do. It’s been extremely difficult to process, but we are feeling super positive knowing that this is all happening for a reason. He has a reason and we’re slowing understanding the why. After we sent out an email to family and friends letting them know, we received a flood of messages back that reinforced how much love we have in our lives. From that moment the date suddenly didn’t matter anymore. We know that this little bump in the road will only make us stronger. Wedding aside, tough times make us all better people. That is what we need to take from the situation going on in the world right now. We look forward to picking a new date in the near future and having an even bigger party to celebrate! We love you all so much! We hope you all stay healthy and safe. 

While this is true, we have remained as positive as we can during this incredibly challenging time. I never thought in a million years that we would have to postpone our wedding date for any reason, but here we are. It was our reality. As I write this, San Francisco and many other counties are in a state of isolation or lock down, not knowing what will happen next. To take a step back, when we first learned about the virus, I was pretty optimistic that it would pass and that we could go about regular programming. Boy was I wrong. As news and media began to release more, I started to worry. We made the decision to postpone our honeymoon to Italy which was heartbreaking. Every little detail of the trip was planned and paid for. Then we started to worry about the wedding. My main concern started with the venue. I was positive that our group of family and friends would be healthy and ready to celebrate. But would the venue and church want to move forward or cancel out of precaution?

We met with our planner, Kaella Wilson, and decided that we would give it some time before making a decision. We went about our planning meeting and finalized every single wedding detail. At this point I have very little on my checklist to do and we were ready to tie the knot. We left the meeting to grab dinner and drinks and then soon departed with my Mom. That’s when we heard the news. San Francisco’s Mayor Breed, has put a ban on all events over 100 people in San Francisco until April 30. Our wedding was April 18th.

I tried to prepare myself as much as possible for that sort of news, but I was in shock. It took me a few days to process that our wedding would not take place as planned. It was then that I went on an emotional rollercoaster. We had been planning for a year and a half, been together for 9 years and are SO READY to get married and start a family as soon as possible. Both Jeff and I were completely let down and heartbroken.

From there I sat and thought to myself, am I being dramatic? Things could be worse. No, I SHOULD be selfish. This is our wedding that I’ve spent countless hours planning with my team and family. Our invitations had just gone out, we just got our marriage license and wedding bands that previous weekend. We were ready. We were SO ready.

On the other hand, we were extremely relieved that this decision was made for us by the Mayor. It would have been torture to go weeks without knowing how this would all turn out with our wedding on the line. I am so glad that we were in a place that we now needed to move forward and pivot rather than wondering what would take place.

The only way for me to move forward was to think positive knowing that this is happening for a reason. God has a reason for this. At the time I was not sure what that reason was, but I slowly started to see the light. I spoke to countless friends and family members who were all so incredibly reasurring. They all reminded me that when the time comes their minds and hearts will be focused on us and our wedding, not the worlds climate. That we would have more time to prepare, that we would have more time to take dance lessons, to make sure my dress fits perfectly, to make sure that everyone can attend. Thank you to all of you that reached out, it really meant a lot to Jeff and I. It was what helped us move forward.

It’s just a date. Everything that had been planned could go on as is at a later time. While the new date is unknown, the wedding will happen as we had planned it, we just need to be a little more patient. This little bump in the road will only make us stronger as a couple (Thank you Auntie Donna for reassuring us of this) xo

Our next steps: find a new date that works for (hopefully) all of our incredible vendors. I was hoping for a summer date, but we may need to look into Fall to take caution. I will then need to reprint and send out all new invitations. I also have a lot of little details with April 18, 2020 printed on them, but it may be fun to keep that date as a fun talking point.
