TIPS FOR A PRODUCTIVE #WFH SETUP

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe during these uncertain times. From wedding postponement (more on that later), to the stock market putting many through loops, to many business closing not knowing what the future holds and now many counties including San Francisco being put into self isolation. Not to mention the fear of being exposed to the virus. We are all enduring some sort of heartbreak but WE CAN choose to be positive knowing that we will come out of this situation stronger than before.

That said, many of us are working from home who have not done so in the past, so I wanted to pull together some tips on making your work from home experience a little easier.

My company has had “WFH Wednesdays” so I’ve had to learn how to stay productive mid week. I will say, I’ve struggled to stay focused and not get pulled into other personal activities such as laundry, social media, walking the dog etc. Jeff also works from home, so having us both here has been a learning experience for both of us.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS THAT I’VE LEARNED TO HELP WITH PRODUCTIVITY  WHILE WORKING FROM HOME:

  • Get ready for the day! Take a shower, change out of pajamas (even if it’s into more athleisure) and even put makeup on if it helps you feel some sense of normality. I have stayed in pajamas all day before and my productivity levels are usually slim to none.
  • Schedule out your day using a to-do list. I am BIG on to-do lists and always start my day by writing one. Not only work related tasks, but schedule time for lunch, a stretch or 15 mins for some fresh air. I also like to get the bigger tasks out of the way in the morning when I’m most productive.
  • Drink lots of water, pee, wash hands, repeat! I always have a big jug of water next to me at all times. It doesn’t help the lack of toilet paper situation, but it will help your immune system, skin, energy levels and more. Add lemon!
  • Take a minute to stretch your next and back. In most cases working from home lacks being ergonomically correct, so I like to take some time to stretch and practice good posture.
  • Unplug for 15 mins to get some fresh air. You can also use that same time to stretch outside. Fresh air is rejuvenating and with lead to increased productivity when you return to your computer.
  • Schedule time for lunch. When I first started working from home, I snacked ALL DAY. It was not good and I felt so unhealthy. Schedule at least 30 mins for a healthy lunch to reduce snacking junk food which with lower energy levels.
  • Connect with co-workers as much as possible using Facetime or video meetings. If you need community support from your team, video calls are so helpful. Also don’t forget to clean and sanitize your computers and phones often!
  • Define when you are done for the day. When you work from home you make your own schedule. Say you take a break during the day to workout, but get back online after then work till 8pm. It’s hard to determine when to close the laptop, have dinner and spend time with your significant other. Ensure that you are setting parameters for work so you don’t end up burning yourself out.

Hoping this helps you even in the slightest!

Lots of love, Jenna

ONE LOOK, TWO WAYS

I have been on a sneaker kick lately and finding any possible way to incorporate them in any outfit. I went to shoot this outfit with these heels and changed into sneakers to head on home. I noticed much I loved this look with sneakers (maybe even more so than I heels) and the camera came right back out!

Sneakers can really be paired with anything, including a more dressy business look with a blazer! I would opt for the heels out for dinner, but daytime calls for sneakers. Which is your favorite?

This blazer also comes with matching pants which would also be so cute with either sneakers or heels. White sneakers are a necessity! I also wanted to take a moment for the bodysuit. Its $19 and one of the best I’ve tried! Its on the thicker side so no bra needed and its so incredible flattering.

What do you guys think of this look? Would our pair it with sneakers or heels?

A WHITE DRESS FOR ANY OCCASION

As you can imagine, I have been on an extensive hunt for white dresses in lieu of all of the wedding activities and events coming up. I have found so many great options, all of which I am sharing with you today!

Some of these dresses are more of the bridal side, and some can be worn to any event or party. These are also some great options for Valentines Day if you are not into red or pink like myself.

The dress I’m wearing is by Michael Costello from Revolve and its absolutely stunning (even more so in person!) I love the crochet detail on the skirt, and the silk top and sleeves are to die for. The slit in the front gives it more of a sexy vibe, but still utterly classic. This was a contender for my bridal shower, but since I decided to share it a little early, I may need to opt for another option below!

Here are a few other dresses and jumpsuits that I’ve had my eye on…

I shared this dress on Instagram stories the other day, and still have it in my closet waiting for the perfect moment to wear it. Also love this stunning jumpsuit and this silk slip dress.

And some shoes to pair with the above!

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOTOX

Today I’m sharing a hot topic, that seems to be kept under wraps often….BOTOX! Its funny how many of my friends get it done, but no one talks about it. It’s very much kept a secret among my generation. Well Im spilling the beans today and sharing all about my experience.

I’ve been getting my botox done at Epi Center Med Spa in San Francisco and absolutely love my experience there. I shared my experience on stories with you all (saved under my SKINCARE highlights if you want to watch) and I asked you what questions you would like us to answer about the procedure. Today Im answering all of your questions that you submitted and more!

Q: At what age did you start?

A: I started when I was 27 and at that age I needed it. I was out in the sun a lot as a kid and young adult and had major forehead lines which really bothered me. Most 27 year olds can get preventative botox, but I actually needed it treated. Im now 32 and have stuck to botox in my forehead only and may need to start doing some closer to my eyes/crows feet in the future. I LOVE the way it looks. It smooths out my skin and makes a huge difference to my appearance. My makeup applies much smoother and I feel much more confident.

Q: How many units did she use on your forehead?

A: We did 12 units to my forehead and 20 units to the glabella (the skin between the eyebrows and above the nose). I like to do more than average so it lasts a bit longer and so I don’t have much movement. That is just my preference.

Q: Much much does it cost?

A: Cost will vary depending on location but at Epi Center Med Spa botox costs $16 per unit. They often have specials though, so be sure to investigate that as well!

Q: How did you pick your injector?

A: I started working with Minela about a year ago. We met at an event at the spa and I have seen her ever since! We kind of hit it off and have become friends. She is INCREDIBLE at her art and practices almost every treatment that you can get at the spa. I always look forward to seeing her, she is so sweet and very experienced. I would definitely do you research and ask a lot of questions and tell your nurse exactly what you are looking for before starting. Communication is key. We have taken before and after pictures and talk about exactly what I want to look like. Minela gets me. 🙂

Q: Ive never done it, how often for you need to get it before it wears off?

A: On average it should last 3 months. Ive learned that the faster your metabolism the faster it wears off. Like mine wears off incredibly fast, maybe about 2 months which is not normal. I just have a super fast metabolism that eats away the botox and fillers quicker than most.  I like to stick to a schedule though and get it done 4x/year.

Q: Are you sure it’s not painful? Im so afraid of needles.

A: It’s really not. You do feel a prick but its so fast that I barely even notice it. I don’t look at the needle at all and I make sure we are talking or my mind is occupied on something else. The whole forehead takes us maybe 5-10 minutes. I am usually a little red after for about 15 mins then ready to go out and about!

Q: Where should I go for lips? Im considering.

A: Epi Center of course! That is if you are in the Bay Area and Im pretty sure who asked this is nearby. I love Minela, she is such a gem and incredible at her art. Make sure to numb! Lips are a bit more painful than botox but also worth the pain in my opinion.

Q: I have insane under eye circles, what would the best way to treat them?

A: Filler! I haven’t done it but I’ve heard and seen a lot of friends do it and have incredible results.

We are sharing the video of the procedure from start to finish on Instagram is you want to take a peak! Please let me know if you have any more questions in the comments! Hope this post has been helpful to you.
