MAUI TRIP: ITINERARY & OUTFITS

We just got back from the most INCREDIBLE vacation / babymoon / birthday trip of a lifetime so today I thought Id share our itinerary and all outfits details. Maui has always had a special place in our hearts, but this trip sealed the deal. It’s really our last trip without baby, and we also celebrated my birthday while on the island and made incredible memories that will stick with us for years to come.

I did a lot of research of hotels, restaurants and things to do while there and I’d recommend every single thing to you. A lot of you also gave such great recommendations on IG which helped so much! I’m a crazy planner, so I planned a lot of the trip in advance and booked reservations, but left a few days open for us to go with the flow. It was a perfect mix.

WHERE WE STAYED: Wailea Beach Resort

This is a Marriott hotel and Jeff is a Marriott member which helped us with upgrades. Even if we were not Marriott members, this hotel was incredible! I’ve never stayed at a hotel where the staff was so incredibly friendly and accommodating. The grounds are stunning, lot of different pools, stores, restaurants and activities to choose from. They have a Starbucks on the property and access to 2 different beaches. It’s also located right next to the Wailea Shops which was convenient. The rooms were nice and large, we requested a balcony with an ocean view and were so lucky to have a fireworks show one of the evenings. We stayed at the Four Seasons on our last Maui trip, and while that hotel is also STUNNING, I actually preferred the pools and beaches better at the Wailea Beach Resort. We will definitely be back (hopefully for many years to come).

^this was at the Serenity Adult Pool (absolute heaven)

^ leis upon arrival and gorgeous sunsets every single night

WHERE WE ATE:

  • Spago: High end restaurant by Chef Wolfgang Puck at the Four Seasons hotel. We went here for my birthday dinner and it was amazing. I got the Mahi Mahi and Jeff the Shrimp Curry.
  • Paia Fish Market: worth the wait in line! We both got fish tacos which was recommended by locals.
  • South Maui Fish Company: Another recommendation from a local. It’s a food truck, but the ONLY place on the island that serves fresh fish caught that morning. They sell their fish to Mama’s Fish House. They have incredible tacos and poke. They sell out, so go early.
  • MonkeyPod Kitchen: One of our faves! We got the pineapple and pulled pork pizza which was to die for. They also claim to have the best Mai Tai on the island, which Jeff agreed with.

Other restaurants that were recommended to us:

^ we also drank a whole lot of POG and the BEST macadamia nut chocolates (my fave!)

ACTIVITIES:

  • Luau at Wailea Beach Resort : rated one of the best and it was the best I’ve been too! We loved it. The food, the show, it was unforgettable.
  • 90 minute Kayak & Snorkel Tour: We loved this tour so much. It was just a small group of 6 with a guide who is a marine biologist. We kayaked close by, then hopped into the water, saw a ton of fish and swam with the turtles which was a highlight of the trip! I was so sore and tired following, its a lot of work but so fun and worth it.
  • Molokini and Turtle Town Snorkel Tour: this was a 5 hour experience by boat and we got to snorkel Molokini crater and Turtle Town. They also served us breakfast and lunch on the boat. We really enjoyed the day, although saw no turtles so that was a bummer. We did see a lot of gorgeous fish and coral reef. We took this underwater camera with us and it took incredible video and photos! So glad we had it with us.
  • Shoot with a photographer: highly recommend Liv Shaw! We shot maternity photos with her and she’s incredible. Can’t wait to share the photos with you all. We will treasure them forever.
  • Massages: we loved our couples massage at the Mandara Spa 10/10
  • Pool … beach… pool …. beach repeat!

^ In Hawaii, there is a special type of lei that is given to pregnant women. An open-ended lei is considered the only type for a pregnant woman, as the closed type is considered unlucky for the baby. So they cut my lei as we entered the luau.

^ how cute is this little guy?!

Other recommendations that were shared with us:

  • Hike (if not too hot)
    • Iao Valley State Park
    • Waihee Ridge Trail Wailuku
    • Pools at Oheo: 7 swimming holes connected by waterfalls and bamboo forest
