SUMMER BEAUTY: MY FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCTS FOR WARMER MONTHS

Let’s talk hair! I find that I use a lot of different hair products during Summer months and I’ve found so many that I absolutely love lately that I’m sharing today! I find that I love to style my hair less during the summer, and use different texturizing, color extending and hydrating products then I do in cooler months.

I recently came across a new holy grail shampoo and conditioner by Moroccanoil. I use Moroccanoil’s original shampoo and conditioner on a regular basis, but they just came out with a color protectant version which I have been using for about a month now and love! Since my hair is color treated, I use this and this purple shampoo and conditioner when I feel like my hair is getting a brassy tint from the blonde. I would say I use it maybe 2-3x per month.

During the summer months I try to let my hair air dry as much as possible. This new air dry foam by Ouai is life changing! When I dont feel like blow drying, I put a little foam in my hair and let air dry. The foam eliminates most of the frizz and embraces my natural wave. I do get keratin treatments, which also helps with my crazy frizzy hair.

Masking is the way to go! I use a lot of products because I truly believe that my hair is long, and healthy because of them. I love using this mask once a week or whenever my hair feels extra dry. If I dont have the mask on hand, I love putting Kopari coconut oil in my hair for a few hours, then rinse.  It leaves hair super hydrated and shiny.

So lets talk oils. Every night before bed I apply this or  this oil to my ends (only). Not only does it smell good, but helps mend split ends and hydrate dry hair. After styling, I spray a little of this oil for extra healthy shine. I love oils probably the most out of my hair care routine.

Last but not least, this texturizing hair spray is perfect for summer waves. This Living Proof anti-frizz humidity shield spray is also in heavy rotation. Another hot tip: sleep with a silk pillowcase for skin and hair goals.

HAIR CARE ROUTINE + FAVORITE PRODUCTS

Alright ladies, I’ve gotten a ton of requests for this one! Today I’m talking all about HAIR! My hair has become so much stronger and healthier over the past year or so and I finally feel like I’ve found the right combination in terms of products, styling tools, techniques and of course the my stylist.

I do want to warn you, it is not a simple routine by any means. I love to use a lot of product and spend a lot of time on my hair, getting it to a good place and maintaining. I also think this goes without saying, I’m definitely a product junkie! You probably dont need every product or step that I do, but I’m sharing it all today!

THE ROUTINE:

Ok, so for my routine I’ll start by saying that I wash my hair twice a week almost always at night. The reason why I like to wash at night is because I have semi frizzy hair and I prefer to sleep on it to de-frizz a bit. I also sleep on a silk pillow which helps maintain frizz as well. You’ve probably heard that washing your hair every day can cause your hair to be very dry and too clean I guess you can say. Your hair needs time to build up its natural oils rather then strip them away. I also dont like to wash any more because its such a process, so 2x/week it is!

WASH

I LOVE this Alterna Caviar Shampoo and Conditioner (and sometimes rotate this one in as well). It’s hard to explain, but I love the way Alterna makes my hair feel. I’ve tried many combinations and this is my favorite so far. Since my hair is naturally brown and I have some blonde balayage going on, I like to wash with purple shampoo as needed. The purple shampoo makes the color more blonde and less brassy. LOVE Kevin Murphy product and this is my go-to purple shampoo and conditioner.

I also sometimes like to apply a mask in the shower if I have one at the time. This is one of my favorites. If I have a mask I use it sparingly, maybe every other week or so. Recently i have been REALLY into using Coconut Oil as a hair mask. Coconut oil is extra moisturizing and I absolutely love the way it makes my hair feel once I wash it out. I like to apply this one at night, wrap my hair in a bun then wash out in the morning. Tip: you will have to cover your pillow with a towel so it doesn’t get greasy.

STYLE

Once I get out of the shower, I let my hair air dry for the most part until its almost completely dry. I LOVE this incredibly expensive but incredibly good heat protectant spray. I always make sure to spray some sort of heat protector before I blow dry.

I then like to blow dry with this round dryer/brush from the drugstore. This is probably my favorite hair tool ever. I like to sweep through the top of my hair, then hold the curl on the ends. It gives such a beautiful blowout, while smoothing and slightly curling the ends which is the look I go for. It is just too easy with this tool! I also love this blow dryer, but have been dying to try this Dyson one! Has anyone tried it? This is the curling iron and this straightener I use occasionally when I feel like I need to style it a little more (although not often). You want to avoid using hot tools as much as possible.

I do like to smooth away my ends and flyaways with a very small amount of this oil. It is not too greasy and really hydrates the hair and creates a beautiful shine. I also love this one for the smell, but only use a very small amount on ends only.

EXTEND

Working out every day and not washing my hair seems a little crazy, but that’s what dry shampoo is for! I love this one, and this one has an amazing scent as well! Dry shampoo if your best friend if you’re exercising on the daily! A few of my favorite hairsprays and texturizing spray is linked below!

I la la love getting blowouts for special occasions and when I do I always go to Drybar. Nothing compares to getting your hair blown out. I am also obsessed with keratin treatments and have been to a few salons, but have yet to find one I love. If you have any recommendations for Keratin in SF please pass along!

Last but not least, a lot of you have asked who my stylist is, so here is Chandry’s website. She is the BEST! I 100% trust her with my hair and pretty much let her do anything she wants. I think we are keeping it long and balayage for awhile, I love it.

Thank you for all of your sweet comments about my hair- each and every one mean a lot to me, especially when its something that Ive been trying to improve for years now! Hope this posts helps you girls get the hair you’ve been wanting!
