HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: FOR THE MEN IN YOUR LIFE

I’m kicking off my series of 2018 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDES today with everything you need to gift the men in your life! Men are the hardest to shop for, dont you think?! With that said, Jeff helped me round up this post with his favorite things and gifts he’s been eyeing.

 

I’m snagging a few of these items for him, my Dad and brother. Is it just my family or do the men in your life never buy anything for themselves? Jeff likes to get everyday basics as gifts because he never shops and waits till Christmas to tell me what he really needs. So, here is the list!

 

  1. Flannel pajama set: Nothing says the holidays like flannel jammies! We love to get my Dad cozy jammies for xmas and this is such a cute gift set. Hot tip: Jcrew is one of my go-to retailers for Men’s gifts. They have a great gift section, lots of discounts and the men in my family love the style.
  2. Patagonia Fleece: I can’t think of any guy that wouldn’t like this fleece. Also, this puffer jacket will make a great gift for any guy as well.
  3. Kiehls Essentials gift set: They may not like to admit it, but men need skincare too! Sometimes you just have to force them to use it. Both Jeff and my Dad have been caught using my skincare, so this year they are getting their own.
  4. Cashmere V-Neck Sweater: Such a classic piece every man should have in his wardrobe. Jeff has a few of these and wears them often.
  5. Calvin Klein cotton V-Neck Tees:  These are great basic tees that I always repurchase for Jeff. He asks for them! Also socks are another great stocking stuffer.
  6. Suede Moccasin Slippers: Our family loves gifting slippers each year and these may or may not be under the tree. They are such a steal! These UGG slippers are also a great option.
  7. Wine Refrigerator: I bought this for Jeff a few years ago and has been great! We have been looking for a larger size this time around but this is a great start.
  8. Canali tie: perfect if your man (or dad) works in finance or wears suits to the office. Jeff always has his eye on everything Canali and this tie is on his wish list.
  9. Google Home: My parents got this for Jeff a few years ago and we use it all the time! Great gift idea for anyone on your list.
  10. Hopsy Sub Home Beer Dispenser: This is another gift from a few years ago and perfect if your guy is a beer lover. You can also get a Hopsy membership that delivers beer to your door on a monthly basis for the machine. Jeff also mentioned this wood fire pizza oven is on his list as well as this cocktail smoking box.
  11. Calpak Luggage Set: Luggage always make a great gift especially if he travels often. This is a great set, and great price! Also comes in other colors for anyone on your list.
  12. Gucci Leather Card Case: I bought Jeff a Burberry card case years ago (maybe 6 or 7!) and he still uses it! Its almost time for a new one, and this Gucci card case is perfect. If your guy prefers a larger wallet, this and this are great finds.
  13. Longchamp Garmet Bag: Again for the business traveler, this garmet bag is a great addition to any travel routine.
  14. Bose Wireless Headphones: Jeff has these and loves them. He suggested I add to the list if you are looking for a great set of headphones, these are the best on the market.
  15. Nike Air Max Sneaker: Give the gift of fitness! We love working out together and to keep him motivated get him a new pair of sneaks!
  16. Monogram Watch Box: Love the idea of personalized gifts. This watch box is classy and functional.

 

Also sharing a few experiences below that will also make great gifts for him.

 

  1. Wine club membership: Give the gift of WINE! We are big wine drinkers and love a good wine club membership. Set your man (or Dad) up with a year long wine club membership at his favorite winery. Check out this post for a few of our favorite wine clubs.
  2. Hopsy membership: A monthly beer club membership (or order as many times as you’d like) where you can get monthly growlers or growlets for the beer lovers out there. This would pair great with the Sub Home Beer Dispenser.
  3. Dollar shave club: Every guy needs to shave. Why not get them a membership so they can have everything they need delivered to their door? This membership is such a great price, we get it for every guy in the family.
  4. Golf lessons: Find a course in your area and sign you man up for lessons. I’ve done this in the past and Jeff has asked to go back multiple times. Great gift for siblings or Dad as well!
  5. Car experience: Is he into cars? Rent him a luxury car for the day or a few laps around a race track.
  6. Dig this Las Vegas: This is super random, but Jeff insisted that I add this to the list! It’s a heavy equipment amusement park, where you can play around with adult tonka trucks. I think you’d be surprised how many guys are into this!
  7. Son of a Taylor: Custom measured and custom fitted t-shirts. Jeff loved this last year!

THE HOLIDAY DRESS GUIDE TO GET YOU THROUGH THE NEW YEAR

Can you believe we are only 2 weeks away from Christmas?! It is so crazy how quick it got here. Not sure about you, but I’m kind of bummed, because I would love to enjoy this season’s festivities, my holiday decor and the spirit of the holidays a little bit longer.

Holiday parties are in full swing over here, but I find myself constantly looking for new dress options. Today I’m sharing a holiday dress guide that can get you through the new year.

I found this VICI DOLLS dress on their site a few weeks ago, and snagged it right away! I absolutely love the red lace for the holidays, I find it so festive, classy with a little flirty on the side. I was a little worried that it would be too revealing, but I felt like it fit like a glove. I actually plan on wearing it to my work holiday party this week! I’ve seen many dresses this style, but none that compare to this fit (and price!)

If you are still in need of a holiday dress, there are some great options below! I almost always go for a black, red or silver dress around this time of year, and I’m sharing a dress for every occasion. Whether you’re going to a company function, friends night out, a fancy gala, or even a date night I’ve got you covered.

My favorite style has always been off the shoulder looks, and this dress is stunning. If you’re looking for a red off the shoulder, this one is perfect.

New Years Eve usually has me stumped on what I want to wear, so I’ve included a few options below. This sequin ombre dress is a big contender for me, its so gorgeous. I’ve also been eyeing this silver dress as well as this sequin dress (for $22!!) I also love a classic black look on NYE, and think this open back halter dress is so chic.

Hope you all had a great weekend! I’m bringing you another gift guide today… everything you need for the guy in your life. Whether that be your husband, boyfriend, your dad, brother or cousin, below are some great gift ideas!

When I asked Jeff what he wants for Christmas and what he thinks I should incorporate in this guide, the first thing he said was a beer growler. I got him one for his birthday and he loves it! I found this one online, which has really great reviews and guaranteed a winning gift for the guy in your life. A wine fridge is also another safe bet if your guy loves wine like mine does.

I also usually get both Jeff and my dad some sort of hoodie or jacket. This Patagonia zip up is perfect for cooler days, this Nike fleece is another great staple, and my Dad would love this jacket (and has a similar style).

Slippers are always on the list each year (for everyone in the fam!) These Ugg Slippers are a classic style that is always a requested repurchase.

If your guy travels, this duffle bag is gorgeous. I also found this super cool weekender garment bag that unfolds and has a department for everything! Such a great gift.

Jack Black is a favorite skincare line for the men in my family, along with Khiels. This and this are such great sets to snag for his stocking.

I also love this watch, and its not crazy overpriced! Here is another one if your guy is into more of a rugged look. I bought this dress shirt on cyber sale, Jeff loves it and its still under $40! Last but not least, headphones are always a must. I love this Bose pair.

Fitness Gift Guide!

Holiday picks

Doing a little Christmas shopping for the fitness chick? Or maybe, you just want to pick something up for yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that! Here are a few of my favorite things:

1. BKR water bottle: I mean, how cute are these?! Purely for looks but I would tote this around everywhere they are so adorable. And those who know me, indeed know that I carry water with me everywhere!

2. Firedaughter Clothing tanks: I would wear everything in this etsy shop. And I happen to own about 1/4 of the tops, thanks to the one and only Samya over at FD. Kiss my abs (love it!) 🙂

3. Jawbone Up: I’ve heard such raving reviews about the jawbone up. It tracks how you eat, move and sleep so you make better choices. Similar to the fitbit and nike fuel band. Which is your favorite?

4. Pressed juicery gift cards: how can you not? Love these juices and cleanses and would love to do them more often with a little help from my friends. Give the gift of healthy juicing this holiday season.

5. Quest Bars: I dont think I can rant and rave about Quest Nutrition any more than I already have. I will never stop buying these bars. They are simply the best on the market. Just look at the nutrition label if you don’t believe me.

6. Lululemon nice asana jacket: I know Lulu hasnt gotten the best press lately, but I’m loving this jacket in both black and pink.

7. DryBar detox dry shampoo: This gym rat has no idea where I’d be without dry shampoo! All that sweat, you need a little spritz and go once in awhile. Also, you dont want to wash your hair every day so this is the perfect solution. You can buy at your local Sephora. (The most wonderful company of all, because I work there) 😉

8. Polar FT4: I wear the FT4 daily to track heart rate and calories burned during my workouts. So simple and easy to use.

9. Chevron Nike free training shoe: A girl can never have to many shoes…especially Nike beauties. 🙂

Guest Post: How to Maintain Your Weight During the Holidays

Maintain Your Weight During the Holidays

Fitness Expert Gives Tips to Prevent Holiday Weight Gain

The Holiday season has jump-started, which means fun with family and friends are in the near future! Gathering around a table for a feast with our loved ones can be fun, but can also put quite a dent in our efforts to keep a healthy lifestyle.

This season, keep your diet on track! Personal trainer and fitness expert, Lisa Corsello, wants to share these five tips to keep your weight in check during the holidays, while still being able to enjoy the assortment of foods on the dinner table.

1. Weigh Yourself Regularly– Studies show that those who weigh themselves regularly are able to maintain their weight more easily. By being aware of when we start to gain weight, we can make small, manageable adjustments to diet and exercise to maintain weight.

2. Exercise Portion Control– Don’t skip meals or deprive yourself of the foods you love this holiday season. Instead, practice eating only half of what you would normally eat when it comes to dessert and rich side dishes. Load up on the healthier side dishes (high fiber veggies) and leaner cuts of meat (breast) so you’ll stay fuller longer.

3. Stay Active– Try to carve out a bit of time for exercise each day. Not only will regular exercise help maintain your weight, but it’s also a great way to relieve stress and sleep better.

4. Plan Ahead– Go online and research just how many calories are in the foods you normally eat during the holiday season. Being aware of what you’re putting in your body can help you find healthier alternatives. Also, try to stock up on healthy snacks that help ease cravings and satisfy your appetite, such as nuts or plain popcorn.

5. Change it Up– Try a new exercise class, walking/running route, or sport. Trying something different will challenge your body in a new and healthy way, and it will help keep your routine fresh and your mind more engaged.

Tip: Rate your current exercise routine on a scale of 1-10, 1 being something extremely easy and 10 the most challenging. During your next workout, try to increase that number by 1. After a week, if you’re feeling good, increase it again. Being mindful of the quality of your workout will help lead to better, healthier routines with great results.
