OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY

YOU GUYS!!! I can’t even believe it, we are ENGAGED!! I have been waiting for this moment my entire life and it was more than I could even have imagined. I knew 8 years ago that he was my person and now we get to make it official!! We are so over the moon.

HOW WE MET

Jeff and I met 8 years ago in October through mutual friends and have been inseparable ever since. We jumped into a relationship pretty quickly, but decided to take our time with the rest. We finally moved in together 6 months ago although previously spending almost every day together. People ask if anything changed once we moved in, and to be honest nothing surprising or different other than the fact that we could call one place our home together. Oh, and Jeff’s a very neat person so he may get annoyed with all my clothes and PR boxes throughout the apartment from time to time. šŸ™‚

THE RING

I knew Jeff was the one, so I haven’t really been in a hurry to get married. It wasn’t until about a year ago that we really knew that we wanted to start a family and wanted to be traditional in the sense of getting married first. Jeff and I have talked about marriage our entire relationship, but we started talking about rings this year. I decided to go ring shopping with my Mom first, which was such a special moment for me. We went to a few jewelers and I decided exactly what I wanted. I came home and shared the details with Jeff, but he wanted to go one more time together so he was sure he knew exactly what I wanted. He’s a perfectionist, what can I say!

I knew Jeff was shopping like crazy (he created spreadsheets from different Jewelers with diamonds he likes, bands he liked, pricing etc. It’s quite the process!)Ā  He decided to choose a jeweler in the city that had the diamond he wanted AND the band which was hard to find from the same. He had the diamond flown in from New York and later found out would be sent to his parents house in New Hampshire where it would be waiting for us.

THE PROPOSAL

Let me first say, I had NO IDEA he was going to propose this soon! I had some idea he would do it over Christmas but was so thrown off! His parents recently sold their home which they lived in for almost 50 years and the home Jeff grew up in. We went to their home in New Hampshire for Thanksgiving which would be the last time Jeff and I would be there. It was an emotional time for everyone, as you can imagine it’s not easy saying goodbye to the only house you grew up in. His parents closed on the house the day before Thanksgiving so it was bittersweet.

We had Thanksgiving dinner in their home with his parents and family friends. When the dessert came out, we went around the table and discussed all that we were thankful for. Tears were flowing (especially from me who can’t hold back a tear at anytime). It was Jeff’s turn to tell us what he was thankful for. He shared that he was thankful for the home that shared so many memories, his family, me… then he said that he wanted to create one last memory in the house. He then got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever…

I was shocked! I broke out in even more tears and was so overwhelmed that I forgot to say YES right away! I couldn’t take my eye off the ring either. It is the ring AND the man I have always dreamed of.

It was 8 degrees on Thanksgiving! Regardless of the weather, we took a walk through the woods on Jeff’s parents property for the last time. It was such a special moment.

MY DREAM RING! Its a cushion cut square diamond on a pave band.

Jeff, you are my biggest adventure. My fairytale come true. My soul mate. My best friend. The love of my life.Ā  You push me to be a greater person day in and day out. Love is not about compromising yourself. Love is finding someone that only adds to your own joy and shine. You are all that and more. I would say YES a million times over. I love you forever and cannot wait for all that is to come!

Valentine’s Day: Date Night Spots in San Francisco

Happy first of February! Today I am in the mood for Valentines day and I’m SOOO excited to share these images with you guys today. A special someone is making an appearance on the blog and was such a sport shooting these pictures. Today is a bit of a different post than what you will normally see on the blog. I wanted to bring a bit of a fashion element, as well as share some of our favorite date night restaurants in lieu of Valentines Day right around the corner!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Windsor Dress Ā (on major sale- under $30!!) / Christian LouboutinĀ Heels

We love doing the cliche dinner date thing on Valentines Day. Jeff usuallyĀ surprises me with a reservation somewhere special each year. We have also been trying to go to a nice dinner together at least once a month where we go all out (aka major cheat night!) Below are some of our favorite date night spots in San Francisco. Ā Spruce is definitely my all time favorite spot.Ā We have had many great date nights there and hopefully many more to come.

As you can probably tell, I love getting dressed up for Valentines Day and have found so many cute dressesĀ lately! The dress I’m wearing in this post was only $28 from Windsor Store!! Such a steal. We have an event to go to this weekend which is the reason behind the fancy gown. šŸ™‚ HereĀ is a major roundup of dresses I’ve had my eye on (at all price points) perfect for date night:

Hope you have a fabulous Valentines Day! xo

pomegranate benefits

Lately I’ve hadĀ a newfound obsession with pomegranates! Although they are messy and tedious to eat, you can also buy just the seeds in a convenient container. I have been finding myself going back for more every time I am at the market, so I decided to do a little research in lieu of my fascination.Ā Ā Here’s some interesting findings:

  • Pomegranate is the most powerful anti-oxidant of all fruits
  • Lowers risk of cancer, especially prostate and breast
  • Lowers cholesterol and risk of heart disease
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Helps control your weight
  • May have benefits to relieve or protect against depression and osteoporosis

As an original native of Persia, Persians believed Eve actually ate a pomegranate instead of an apple in the Garden of Eden. Ancient Egyptians buried their dead with pomegranates because they believed it offered eternal life. It is also believed to be a symbol of good luck according to Greeks and Chinese. Sorry to get “historical” on you, but I find all ofĀ this so interesting!

Many studies show that pomegranate is one of the most powerful, nutrient dense foods for overall good health. These findings clearly show a correlation between pomegranates and their positive effect on both human and animal cardiovascular, nervous, and skeletal health. This is one fruit that you can’t afford to exclude from your diet! Eat up peeps!

Try thisĀ nutritious smoothie and let me know what you think:

Ā Have a great weekĀ and thanks for reading!

in the spirit

In the spirit of Valentines day, (my favorite holiday) I am dying to share what made our day so special! Some of you may despise this “love” day, others swoon, but I’m a romantic so I couldn’tĀ help myself! I spent the evening with my love.Ā Ā He has been so supportive with my fitness passions, life and journeys, I can’tĀ thank him enough. Jeff, you areĀ the mostĀ amazingĀ spirit and I am so lucky to call you my best friend, boyfriend and true love. I am a big believer that a girl should receive flowers and love everyday of the year, and he makes this happen! Spoiled and very lucky I am!Ā  And can’t forget my Dad…he always has and always will be my #1 Valentine. šŸ™‚

Here is a recap of a few special moments:the dress (from Asos, on sale!)

TheĀ beautiful rosesĀ and phenomenalĀ food at Fleur de Lys in San Francisco. A Hubert Keller Restaurant, this place is 5 star, and the food IS all that it’s cracked up to be!

Among other wonderful gifts, I decided to make this cute fruit bowl, instead of your average heart chocolates. Thank you Pinterest for this idea! Corny, I know…but he loved it! Did I tell you, that I am giving up chocolate, cheese and alcohol for Lent?! Yes, you heard that right! I am giving up ALL 3…they are my biggest weakness and I decided to do it big this year for a healthier 2013! Wish me luck. šŸ™‚

My brand new NikeĀ pants that he surprised me with! Can you tell that we LOVE health and fitness?! Can’t wait to hit the gym with these babies today!

Leaving you with this cute little saying that I found via Instagram. šŸ™‚

Ā I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine’s Day and thanks for reading!
