Hope you are having a great week so far! We just returned from a quick trip to Boston just in time to miss the big storm. Hope you east coasters are staying warm! There are a lot of fun races coming up in the Bay Area which I am sharing today as well as some discount codes that I have for you all! (Note, I do not get compensated for the codes but they are for you to enjoy and save a little money!)

First up is the Giant Race Series. I am so excited to have been chosen as part of the Starting Nine Ambassador Team! Thank you thank you thank you Giant Race for “drafting” me. I am so honored to be given this opportunity to spread the race series love and be a part of the team. You can read more about the ambassador team here if you are interested.

With that said here are the Giant Series dates and locations.

  • Sacramento April 15: 5k, 10k, 10k relay
  • San Jose June 3: 5 mile, 5k
  • San Francisco August 27: Half, 10k, 5k, kids

Prices for the Sacramento and San Jose races increase on Weds so be sure to sign up today!

I’ve ran the San Francisco Giant Race the past couple of years and it was been such an incredible experience. More to come as the events start to kick off. You can sign up here.

Use code JENNASAVE5 for $5 off your registration for any of the above locations.

Another race series that I have participated in for many years  is the Destination Races Event Series. I am honored to be an ambassador for this series as well and am looking forward to the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon in July. I am also planning to sign up for Santa Barbara and Healdsburg. Who doesn’t want to end a race with a little wine? 🙂

For the Santa Barbara race, fees increase by March 15 so be sure to sign up today if you are interested! You can sign up here.

Use code DRJENNA for $10 off your registration

The Levi’s Presidio 10 is also coming up on April 23rd! Unfortunately I do not have a discount code for this one, but this is another goodie if you live in the area. There is a 10 mile race, 10k or 5k all of which take place in the Marina District of San Francisco, take you over the bridge and through the Presidio. Gorgeous course and for a great cause.

You can sign up here. Hope to see you out there!

Nike Women’s Half Marathon Recap

Happy Tuesday! I wanted to share some pics from the Nike Women’s half marathon a few weekends ago. I’ve also posted some of these on my Facebook and Instagram, so apologies for the repeats! This was a PHENOMENAL race. Nike always does such an amazing job, and this is by far my favorite race to date (well, maybe right after Paris).

We started by going to the expo in Union Square. The energy is unreal. To have so many runners in the same place, just as excited as I am makes for such an exciting atmosphere.

Jeff and I goofing around at the expo. Always making an excuse to flex. They had a ton of great photo ops, high energy music and plenty of swag. 😉

While we were downtown I couldn’t help but stop by Nike Town to pick up a few things for the race. 🙂

I loved the colors in this shot! There were literally hundreds of people swarming the streets at the starting line. Such an amazing feeling!

After training and completing this race, this is the strongest I’ve felt both mentally and physically. I’ve dedicated myself to every single run and to this very goal. I’ve made a decision to PR each race that comes my way, each making me even stronger, even more determined and even more passionate about my goals. Half marathons are where my heart is, and I look forward to getting faster and faster each race. I couldnt have been more excited to PR at 1:58…my goal was under 2 and there was no way that I would not let that happen. I abosolutely loved the course, and when mile 10 (the dreadful uphill) came around there was nothing that would stop me. Running is just one of those things that makes me happiest! Can’t wait until next year. 🙂

Have any of you run the Nike Marathon? If so, please do share your thoughts about the race!

Water to Wine Half Marathon Recap

Finally posting some photos from the Water to Wine half marathon a few weeks ago! Better late than never right? Located in the beautiful wine country right outside of Healdsburg in Santa Rosa, we had so much fun at this race. Personally, I think its so much more fun to run with girlfriends. We chatted and encouraged each other the whole time, and the wine at the end was a major motivator to get to the finish line. I didn’t set a goal time, but we finished in 2:04. With another marathon in the books, I’m going to set a goal of 1:50 for my next half coming up in October. Time to train!!

My ladies! So much fun having girlfriends to run with, love you Luba and Athena!

Loved the medal. It was actually a wine stopper- pretty cool!

Shorts: Nike

Shoes: Asics GT 2000

Compression socks: CEP

Post race we decided to do a wine a food pairing at the winery (Kendall Jackson). The food and wine were both phenomenal! Not to mention, the winery is the perfect setting for a race.

Throwing my feet up after the race was much needed! Also swapped my asics for these Nikes. The most comfortable shoe ever.

Thanks to run wine country for putting on such a fun event! I would definitely recommend this race to those in the area.

Do you have a race coming up? Please do share!

I have a few other marathon articles and training guides: here, here , here, here and here. Happy reading!

Greeted at the finish line with these macaroons, thank you Jeff!

(Some photos taken by myself, others by Jeff and a few professional shots as well.)

The Paris Marathon was truly an unforgettable experience. Just being in this beautiful city alone was spectacular. We ran a slow 4 hour and 30 minute pace, which was perfect to actually take in our surroundings.  The course was flat, and the first half was pretty easy, but the last got difficult approaching mile 20 or so. I think you can see with my expressions that I was struggling a bit! But most importantly we made it, had SO much fun and would do it again in a heartbeat. Actually, day of the race I told myself this would be my last marathon, but as time has gone by I’ve had a change of heart and searching for another! Running is quite the addicting sport. The feeling of accomplishment easily replaces any negative thoughts. Going through the finish line and getting that medal was actually a little emotional. We did it! This was easily the best feeling in the world.

That day we went out to celebrate and once that post-marathon feeling of needing food and water went away we were ready to explore the city. Surprisingly walked out of it not sore at all!  It just so happened to be Luba’s 30th birthday which made the race that much more fun. Can’t wait to share more photos from the trip in an upcoming post. 🙂

Paris Marathon Training

Hi there! I have gotten a couple requests to share my Paris Marathon training schedule so here it is! I’ll be training and running the marathon with a friend of mine so she has set up our miles and route for each Saturday. Yikes!!! I have never trained for a marathon before (although I ran the SF Marathon), so this is going to be extremely challenging. Along with our long Saturday training runs, I plan to run 3-4 miles about 2-3 times a week.

If you are in training mode, one of my biggest suggestions would be to find a running buddy. I would not be able to get through this training without a friend running with me, and pushing me along. I am an extremely motivated person, but 26 freaking miles, is much easier with someone by your side.

Also, here is the Half Marathon Training Schedule I have used in past races for those of you looking to run a half.

I am SO ready to step outside my comfort zone and accomplish something as exciting as a full marathon IN Paris. What a dream!!

Do you have a race coming up? Or would you take a leap and sign up for one?
