Napa to Sonoma 5k / HUGE new goal!

Hi loves! Sorry for my lack of posts lately, I have been a busy bee! New beginnings, change and exciting transitions are a good thing, right? Anyways, I do have some exciting news. Well two things, fitness related. First off, I placed 10th overall in the Napa to Sonoma 5k this weekend! 7th place female! It’s so exciting to make progress! If you follow my Facebook page, I talk about progress all the time. Little progress is better than no progress at all! Shaving time off my runs, seeing huge changes in my body and feeling overall very happy! Doesn’t get better than that. 🙂

This course was absolutely beautiful! I regret not running the half marathon, but will next year! People come from all over to visit the wine country which happens to be my home town. It’s really eye opening to return and realize how beautiful it really is! I may be a city girl, but Sonoma will always have my heart. 🙂

Such a fun event!! They had tons of wine tasting after and I saw a cute shirt that pretty much sums is up:

“Run a lit, Wine a lot”. 🙂

Next goal…maybe top 5? Hmmm… 😉

Exciting News #2- Sooooo, I sat down with a girlfriend of mine the other night who happens to be a photographer. We chatted a little bit about my fitness goals and you know what I realized? I don’t have one! So with that said I have decided that I really want to do a fitness photo shoot in 3-4 months!!!! I am so nervous to announce that and have been majorly doubting myself but after talking to others about it, why the heck not?! I need a goal, why not make it a big one. To be photo shoot ready to me, means getting in the best physical shape I have ever been. BUT doing it all on my own. Not using a nutritionist or trainer, but being my own motivation. I want to share the journey with you guys and see how I progress. Why the heck not, right? So I have yet to set a date, and SO nervous to commit but with this post, I think I just committed!! YIKES. I will need to believe in myself more than I ever have before! So stay tuned peeps!

Find your passion and the sky’s the limit! xoxo

17 things running teaches you about life

(photo via Pinterest)

I wanted to share this article I found on thoughtcatalog.com. One of the many things I love about running is how much it teaches you about life in general….enjoy 🙂

17 Things Running Teaches You About Life (by Kovie Biakolo)

1. To be good at anything, you have to put in the time and effort no matter how talented you are.

2. Your abilities and someone else’s abilities are not the same. Do the best that YOU can do.

3. If winning is your objective, realize that you have to work 10 times harder than the next best person.

4. No matter how hard you work and how prepared you are, disappointments will happen.

5. The most gratifying experiences usually come as a result of enduring the most painful trials.

6. To be great at anything, you have to risk failing terribly at it.

7. A lot of people endure the same pains that you do.

8. If you focus on putting one foot in front of the other, you will eventually reach the finish line.

9. You cannot reach the finish line unless you start.

10. The mind is a very powerful thing. If you can train your mind to keep going even when your body wants to quit, you can achieve some incredible things.

11. Learning the difference between physically being unable to continue and giving up.

12. Accepting that every day is different — some days 5 miles is really easy, other days it feels like a cruel punishment.

13. Pace yourself.

14. You cannot give 100%, 100% of the time.

15. Sometimes you need a day off, a day off from everything.

16. The worst time, the slowest pace, the last person to finish the race is still better off than the person who refused to try.

17. Even if you fall, even if you cannot finish today, you can and should pick yourself up and try again tomorrow.

30 Miles in 30 Days/Workout Progress

I feel like I’m making progress! It’s seriously the best thing ever to actually SEE the results that you work so hard for. Once you see your body changing it only pushes you harder. It’s the best feeling! So if you feel like your not seeing results, KEEP GOING!!! You will get there, patience is a virtue! (which I am working on ;))

I’m excited to be linking up with Ms. Sarah and Nikki again for this awesome challenge!

I’m going to start by saying that so far in May I have been slacking on my running and focusing more on lifting. I have a petite frame naturally so my mindset at the moment is focused on building more muscle opposed to cardio.

Here’s what my week has looked like so far:

Monday: double day- 30 minutes elliptical (about 3 miles), then back to the gym for back/biceps

Tuesday: Legs/Glutes (my fave!!) …and still very sore!

Wednesday: Triceps/Chest, 20 minutes of elliptical (about 2 miles)

Thursday (today): 30 minutes on treadmill (3.5 miles)

Friday: Planning to get outside for a run…but may change my mind 🙂

Saturday: REST (Going to Bottlerock!)

Sunday: run/walk with Mom (Mother’s day)

My total miles this week: 8.5 —-> 21.5 more to go!

Are you all staying motivated?

Bikini season is coming up! Here’s to eating clean and training your butt off!!

ps: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!! I LOVE YOU!

Pieces of me via Instagram

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you may be familiar with a few of these photos. I wanted to share a couple of things with you guys, including a weekend trip to visit my brother at U of O, a Eugene 5k as well as this amazing t-shirt company.

Firedaughter Clothing sells awesome fitness inspired tops on their Etsy shop. I picked this one up right after the events in Boston as proceeds go to The One Fund. They have a ton of others that are absolutely adorable so be sure to check them out! (I bought a couple of others which I’m dying to share!)

A 23 minute 5k and still flexin’. 🙂 I usually run alone, but we stayed together the entire run and couldn’t have been more fun! We pushed each other to keep going and finished strong!

Throwin’ up the “O”… sounded about right.

Lucky me, in between these two handsome guys. Couldn’t ask for a better support team.

We swept Stanford in a 3 game series! Watching these games and seeing my brother sign autographs made me a very proud sister.

Believe it or not, this was my first time to the Oregon campus in the last 4 years Daniel’s been going to school there. It blew my mind to say the least!

Did you all enjoy your weekend?
