SHOPPING ON FILLMORE

Hope you had a great weekend! There is a lot of good shopping in San Francisco, but my favorite spots are away from crowds and close to home. I love heading to Fillmore street in San Francisco to shop, eat, drink and even sometimes just stroll around on the weekends. Today I’m sharing a look I wore recently while shopping on Fillmore along with some of my favorite spots.

OUTFIT DETAILS: RAILS TOP / WHITE DENIM (under $35!) / SANDALS / FREE PEOPLE CROSSBODY (also love this version) / BAUBLEBAR NECKLACE

I am in love with a good button up top and RAILS has some of the best! This one is military inspired which sold me, along with the color! Here are a few more of my favorites from RAILS:

Also dont miss out on this pair of white denim! They are under $35 and fit crazy well. They are seriously the perfect fit and I love that they are both cropped and flared.

LIKETOKNOW.IT HEART WALL

Hope you all are having a great week! Some exciting things are happening in San Francisco right now… the LIKEtoKNOW.it city tour is kicking off and making it’s appearance here in the city!

The @LIKEtoKNOW.it Reward Style City Tour  is heading to 9 cities across the globe to bring brand awareness to it’s newest feature “shop with a screenshot.” San Francisco is the 5th to adopt this beautiful mural located on the Palmers SF wall, at Fillmore and Clay Street and its definitely brightening things up a bit around here! The mural will be here for the next month so be sure to stop by and snap a pic if you are in the area!

OUTFIT DETAILS: WRAP DENIM SKIRT / TULAROSA TOP / MADEWELL DENIM JACKET / KENDALL & KYLIE MULES / REBECCA MINKOFF BAG / BAUBLEBAR NECKLACE

I’m sure you’re probably wondering, what the heck is LIKEtoKNOW.it?! It’s pretty awesome and I’m excited to share with you all! In short, LIKEtoKNOW.it allows you to shop products that you see in your instagram feed. Influencers have the ability to upload their images to the app, tag products which create a link to retailers. You can then “like” the picture and get access to the link. You can either get an email directly to your inbox or visit the app.

There is a really cool new feature, where you can now screenshot photos that you want to shop from Instagram (or even Snapchat and Pinterest)! After you take a screenshot you can open the app and immediately shop the items in the image. Since their March launch, more than 5 million screenshots of influencer created images have been matched and made instantly ready to shop via the Liketoknow.it app! So crazy!

It is such a cool way to shop, if you ask me! Before I started style blogging and even so now, I was constantly looking to influencers to shop. I actually bought most of my clothes this way. This was before LIKEtoKNOW.it was around so I had to do quite a bit of digging to find that certain top or pair of jeans. This just makes it so incredibly easy.

If you want to sign up, here is what you need to do:
1. Download the app & register for your account.
2. Like or screenshot Instagram posts that have a LiketoKnow.it link
3. Automatically receive an email or open the app with ready-to-shop product links

Be sure to check out this gorgeous mural is you are around town! Also, don’t forget to download the LiketoKnow.it app, its such a great tool if you are constantly on the hunt for new style finds like me. Hope you all have a great rest of your week. xo

DATE NIGHT STYLE // FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN SAN FRANCISCO

I always look forward to Friday night, not only because the work week is over but because its usually our date night. We love exploring new restaurants as well as heading to our local spots. Ending the week with a glass of wine, good food and good company is always a good idea! I like to turn my Friday night meal into sort of a ‘cheat meal’ because there are too many good options that I cant pass up! Today I’m sharing some of our favorite restaurants as well as one of my date night looks, wearing my go-to colors: black and white.

DETAILS: TOP / PANTS / HEELS (SIMILAR) / BAG (SIMILAR HERE AND HERE) / EARRINGS (SIMILAR HERE AND HERE)

Torrey Fox Photography

I almost always throw on a black tank with a pair of skinny jeans, leather jacket and heels, but I recently found these amazing lace up flared capris and could not pass them up! They add a little summer flair to date night style. I also love that they have a high waist so I can wear one of the many crop tops I own. Crop tops are not easy to pair, as I feel as if the pants need to fit high on the waist but not too tight. These are the perfect fit! The only thing that I will say is that red wine and white pants are a scary combo!! It hasn’t happened yet, but please pray for me!

And some of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco:

A16: One of my favorite neighborhood spots, this cozy restaurant in the Marina if the perfect spot for pizza and wine. We love both sitting at a table or the wine bar if we can’t get a res . Start with buratta, then be sure to try the pizza. Such a cozy date night / cheat meal spot!

Causewells: This is our weekly date night or brunch spot. Its a few blocks away from the apartment, but also one of the best restaurants in the Marina in my opinion. We always walk in without a reservation and sit at the bar for a glass of wine before dinner. Causewells has an award winning burger which is a MUST TRY. I also love the house made ricotta, deviled eggs and smoked trout salad.

Spruce: My favorite restaurant in the city! It is more on the pricey site, but I love the ambiance and of course the food is to die for. We love heading to Spruce for special occasions. The roasted chicken, fois gras, tartar all have my mouth watering. You can also sit at the bar and indulge in one of the best burgers in the city (after Causewells). Food, service and ambiance are all A+++.

Terzo: Such a fun Mediterranean tapas spot in Cow Hollow. The atmosphere is warm and romantic and the food even better. I love the mozzarella de buffalo, bruschetta , hummus, meatballs, all to share with your sig. other.

Allegro Romano: This old school Italian restaurant is perfect for date night. It is located at the top of Russian Hill in a residential area, charming and quaint in every way possible. The staff is the sweetest, they greet you with open arms and always end the evening giving the women a red rose. All of the food I have tried is spectacular and always leave feeling the love. A hidden gem, worth checking out!

Gary Danko: A special date night spot for a birthday, anniversary or celebratory occasion. Gary Danko is extremely pricey, but so worth it to me. It’s one of the fanciest restaurants in SF and the service and décor are absolutely impeccable. Make your reservations well in advance and be prepared to be pampered! Hot tip: You can walk in and sit at the bar with a full menu!

Beretta: Located in the Mission, Beretta’s menu includes antipasti, pizzas, pastas, risottos, and rotating daily specials like cioppino and short ribs. While you wait for a table, grab one of the excellent cocktails at the bar. It’s open late night (food til 1 a.m.), and for weekend brunch.

I am also dying to check out Leos Oyster Bar, State Bird Provisions, Rich Table and Media Noche. Are any of these on your list? What is your favorite?

Pilates ProWorks Review: San Francisco Marina Location

It has been a lonnnggg time since I last did reformer pilates! As you all know I love my current rotation: weight training, running, yoga. BUT I do love to mix it up a bit and always like to add pilates in the mix when I am in a rut and need something a little different. As I’ve said before, we always want to keep our body guessing and make sure we dont get used to a certain routine.

A few weekends ago Pilates ProWorks (the San Francisco Marina location on Union Street) invited me to experience a class. The studio offers reformer pilates, mat boxing and TRX classes but I decided to go with the reformer. Right around the corner from my house, I signed up for a Saturday morning class with Clarissa. From the moment I walked in, the staff was super friendly which is something that I notice and take note of right away. The class before me was just finishing up so after a few minutes it was time to take to the reformer. The class was super intimate which I loved. It was only a class of 10 or so which was great and didn’t feel too crowded like your average studio. The studio was extremely clean, equipment was super well maintained, staff was friendly and the teacher was excellent- thank you Clarissa!

I have done pilates quite a few times, but it’s been awhile. I wasn’t exactly comfortable on the reformer at first, but after Clarissa set me up and showed me how to adjust the resistance I was good to go. The class was challenging and targeted muscles that I have not used (or noticed I used) in a long time! The moves are repetitive but that is certainly the exhausting part. If I am sore the next day, I can tell that was a great workout. And I WAS sore! We focused mostly on legs, so I am wondering if different body parts are focused on each class. Let me know in the comments if you are familiar!

I will say, I do prefer more high intensity workouts and am looking forward to trying the mat box or TRX class next. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t break a sweat and for me that’s key to feeling like I had a great session. Also, classes fill up FAST! I had a hard time booking actually and I would definitely feel disappointed if I had to schedule like that often.

(2 images above via Pilates ProWorks)

Tips for your first class:

  • Bring grippy socks with you to class as they are required. You can also purchase them at the studio for $15
  • There are not showers at the Marina location and not a lot of space to hang out so its best to plan to go home and shower after class
  • Introduce yourself to the instructor and let him/her know you are new. The will keep an eye on you during class and make sure you are doing moves correctly in order to avoid injury. They will also show you how to work the reformer and adjust resistance
  • Bring a water bottle and prepare to be sore the next day!

The facts:

Pilates ProWorks was founded in San Francisco in 2010 by a husband and wife duo and since have launched 15 studios in the US and South America.

Pilates Pro classes deliver a powerful 40- or 55-minute workout in a small group setting, in which each person works on their own FitFormer™ Pilates machine. This class combines resistance, lengthening, strength training, and cardio to aid in weight loss, define muscle, improve strength, endurance and flexibility, and boost energy.

matBox is a full-body workout that brings together Kickboxing, Pilates and Yoga into one powerful 55-minute session. The class starts with a round of high-intensity kickboxing with a punching bag. Then, the gloves come off and you hit the mat for a round of Pilates to strengthen your core. The final round incorporates Yoga to leave you aligned, balanced and fully invigorated. The result is a balanced mix of high-energy and focused intensity that tones, aligns and blasts calories. (Cant wait to try this class next!)

San Francisco locations:

  • 2238 Union St, San Francisco, CA 94123 (Marina)
  • 563 Commercial St, San Francisco, CA 94111 (Fidi)

If you want to check out a class they have a few deals running!

  • Purchase a whole year of unlimited classes in 2017 for $2,017. This works out to $168 per month.
  • For new clients, enroll in a FIT 10 autopay membership and get your whole first month for $20.17. This works out to $12.34 per class.

Regular prices:

  • New clients: $20 for your first class or $135 1 month unlimited
  • 1 class is normally $30
  • They also offer 5, 10 or 20 packs (click here for full price list)

Have you taken a class at Pilates ProWorks before? If so, did you enjoy?

Valentine’s Day: Date Night Spots in San Francisco

Happy first of February! Today I am in the mood for Valentines day and I’m SOOO excited to share these images with you guys today. A special someone is making an appearance on the blog and was such a sport shooting these pictures. Today is a bit of a different post than what you will normally see on the blog. I wanted to bring a bit of a fashion element, as well as share some of our favorite date night restaurants in lieu of Valentines Day right around the corner!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Windsor Dress  (on major sale- under $30!!) / Christian Louboutin Heels

We love doing the cliche dinner date thing on Valentines Day. Jeff usually surprises me with a reservation somewhere special each year. We have also been trying to go to a nice dinner together at least once a month where we go all out (aka major cheat night!) Below are some of our favorite date night spots in San Francisco.  Spruce is definitely my all time favorite spot. We have had many great date nights there and hopefully many more to come.

As you can probably tell, I love getting dressed up for Valentines Day and have found so many cute dresses lately! The dress I’m wearing in this post was only $28 from Windsor Store!! Such a steal. We have an event to go to this weekend which is the reason behind the fancy gown. 🙂 Here is a major roundup of dresses I’ve had my eye on (at all price points) perfect for date night:

Hope you have a fabulous Valentines Day! xo
