VACAY STYLE: MAUI TRIP PART I

As most of you know, we recently returned from an INCREDIBLE trip to Maui. I have been posting photos on insta nonstop from the trip, but finally getting around to sharing them here with you on the blog. I had a few of you girls asking me about my swimwear, what I packed and where we stayed so I’m sharing that all with you today!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Dress (OOS- so sorry! Here is similar and love this and this one) / Sunglasses / Baker Boy Hat

First of all, I booked an amazing photographer Jess Johnson, while I was there so I didn’t have to interrupt our trip by always asking someone to take a photo of me! We also dont like carrying around big cameras with us when we travel so this worked out so well. I love these photos so much. I highly recommend Jess if you are looking for a photographer on the island!

As you can tell I’m in my element! I was so happy to unplug and relax.  The beach + Hawaii in general is definitely my happy place. 🙂

Where we stayed:

We stayed at the most beautiful hotel in Maui (in my opinion)! The Four Season Wailea is the most gorgeous property. The room are incredible, so big and modern and the service is something I have never experienced before. We’ve stayed at a lot of hotels and this might be my favorite of all time. The views are stunning from every direction and the pool and beach dont get much better. Even the food and drinks at the pool were delicious- highly recommend the sushi! There was nothing to complain about here and HIGHLY RECOMMEND in all aspects if you are planning a trip to Maui in the future!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Bikini Top / Bikini Bottom /Sunglasses / Hat

The sunsets in Maui are INSANE. Every single night they took my breath away. (And the photo above was taken from my iphone!)

What I packed:

I packed a LOT of dresses, both short and maxis for this trip. Pretty much all I wore! Needless to say, a lot of off the shoulder dresses. 🙂 I wore this white dress from Vici to dinner one night, and it complimented my tan/ sunburn nicely. 🙂 Unfortunately it’s out of stock (so sorry!) but I also brought this, this and this dress with me as well.

I wore this, and this dress during the day and LOVED them both SO much!  Also, post to come on this maxi. This and this were the perfect cover ups!

I also probably packed wayyyy too many hats for my own good, but I am obsessed with hats! If you follow me on instagram you have probably noticed that I am wearing a hat in the past 20 or so pictures! This Lack of Colors Rancher is my absolute favorite. I’m also loving this, this and this one from the brand. I also wore this straw baker boy hat quite a bit as well!

So let’s talk swimwear. I bought so many different suits online, then realized that I’d wear them all once and not again for another year or 2… when in Rome? I am also working on a part 2 of this post and will share a few other swim styles as well. Needless to say, this one I’m wearing above is one of my favorites. I love the high waist bottoms and cute little tie on the top. Below are a few other styles I snagged.

I will be posting part 2 of my Maui trip soon! Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

PARIS TRIP + TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS

As you all know from my instagram, I just got back from Paris! I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Paris for my job, which also happened to be during Paris Fashion week. I have been to Paris one other time, where I ran the Paris marathon but I was SO happy to be back. Paris is an incredible city, and quite possibly my favorite city that I’ve ever been to. I’m in awe of every little corner of the city, its SUPER romantic and the Parisian way of life is A DREAM!

I’m excited to share where I stayed, ate, visited, and SHOPPED while in Paris! If you have a trip coming up, I hope this helps! And if not… I think its time you book one 😉

WHERE I STAYED

We stayed at Le Tremoille Hotel, which is a boutique hotel in the 8th arrondissement, in the heart of Paris’ golden triangle. It was a smaller hotel, but the location was perfect. It was blocks from both the Champs Elysee and the Eiffel Tower. While it is a 5 start hotel, it was not a big ‘scene’, very quaint and “old school Parisian” I would say. The pictures above are from my balcony at Le Tremoille! I definitely would recommend it and would stay there again. Our last visit, we stayed at the Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel which I would recommend as well! I beleive its in the 4th arrondissement (I could be wrong) and closer to the Louvre Museum. Paris also has your hots spots, a Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and the Hotel Plaza Athenee is another celebrity spot.

HOW I GOT AROUND

Walk or UBER! I prefer to walk all over Paris. One of the days we walked from the Eiffel tower to the Louvre which are basically on opposite side so the city and it took us a little over an hour. It wasn’t bad at all. Walking enables you to really get the full experience. I love it! Paris also has many ubers, which are all actually really nice cars. Its pretty easy to get around.

WHERE I SHOPPED

Since this was a business trip, I only had one day to shop. So I made it count. 🙂 There are SO many designer stores in Paris its like your constantly surrounded by gorgeous designer. handbags, shoes, etc etc. Since Paris holds a special place in my heart, I like to make one special designer purchase. I have been eyeing these Dior slingbacks forever and I decided to pull the trigger! When in Rome 🙂 Shopping on the Champs Elysee is a MUST in Paris, there is almost every store you can imagine. I also just discovered Massimo Dutti while shopping the Champs Elysee and I’m obsessed! I bought these wide leg trousers from this post while there.

WHAT I WORE

It was raining the entire trip, and actually snowed the day before I got in so I packed a lot of layers. I brought a ton of different jackets which I paired with either black or blue denim. I also brought a lot of business attire, and dresses for dinner parties. Lets just say that I DID NOT pack light! These boots were a LIFESAVER, and I wore this hat often to avoid the rainy day frizzy hair vibe. Here are a few other items that I packed:

WHERE I ATE

To be honest with you, I am terrible with restaurant names (especially French names), but I can tell you that I ate a lot of bread! My diet consisted of bread, crepes, ham and cheese sandwiches, croissants, macaroons and a small amount of protein here and there! It was not great, but worth it. They have these plain ham and cheese sandwiches in almost every cafe and they are TO DIE FOR! The crepes are on every corner, and I’m convinced Parisians live off carbs. I couldn’t find a veggie to save my life. The food was incredible though! Here are a few restaurants to check out:

Brasserie Flottes, Cafe de la Paix, Loulou, the iconic Laduree, Angelina and Cafe de Flore

WHAT I SAW

These recommendations are in combination with my last trip, but there are SO many things to do and see in Paris! The Eiffel tower is a must see of course. You really cant miss it though! Its really cool to be able to spend a few hours making your way to the top. Super touristy but worth it. Vising the Louvre Museum is also a must, at least once. Its iconic, and one of the best museums in the world. It takes a long time to get through the entire museum, but a few hours were enough for Jeff and I when we went a few years back. You also need to add a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral. Its another gorgeous, iconic spot. Doing a Seine River Cruise was one of our favorite things we did. We went on a night tour and it was so incredibly romantic, I loved it. We also took a day trip the Champagne Region of France which was a few hours away from Paris which was so much fun! Also, the Luxembourg Gardens are stunning in the Spring. A great spot to walk through and take photos. Next time we visit, I would love to go see Moulin Rouge, and maybe even take a French cooking class!

I like to plan out everything before a big vacation so I made an extensive itinerary. Happy to share if you would like more info! Just leave a note below or send me an email!

Have you been to Paris? If so, what did you most enjoy? xo

OUR TRIP TO CHICAGO

As most of you know, Jeff and I traveled to Chicago a few weeks ago (my first time!) and I’m finally getting a post up for all of you girls who’ve asked me about our trip! Today I’m sharing a few looks, along with some popular things to do in Chicago.

Jeff’s company is based out of Chicago so he visits often for work, and this time I got to tag along. The company had a huge party that I was also invited to, and I was so happy to finally see the city and meet a bunch of his lovely coworkers. We stayed 4 days which was relatively quick, but we squeezed as much in as possible during that short time.

Chicago is BEAUTIFUL!!! I loved every single thing about this city. I know I may feel slightly differently during the winter months, but we had the most beautiful weather- 70 and sunny! We stayed along the riverfront and I loved walking up and down the river, checking out all the cute little shops and enjoyed the beautiful cityscape.

OUTFIT DETAILS: TEE / VELVET JACKET (ALSO LOVE THIS ONE) / DENIM / HEELS / CLUTCH

I wore this outfit to dinner one night at RPM Steakhouse. Holy smokes, that place was so delicious. HIGHLY recommend if your into steak and martinis (with blue cheese olives of course). 🙂

I mean, you gorgeous is this?! Taken from my iphone on our Architecture Tour.

OUTFIT DETAILS: SWEATER (under $25!) / DENIM / HEELS

I picked up this cozy sweater from Forever 21 while we were in Chicago! Jeff had to go into the office a few days, so I of course walked Magnificent Mile and hit up all the good shopping!

While we didnt have a whole lot of time, I always make my list of things we have to do/see before we leave. Here are a few of my recommendations:

  • Architecture Boat Tour: This is a must (in the summer months at least)! It sounds corny, but this tour is the best way to see the city. Jeff has no interest in going until we read more about it and almost everyone we ran into told us to check it out. We went on the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise which was recommended to us. The tour was about an hour and a half, where we learned all about the cities history and beautiful architecture. Most of the photos above are taken from our tour.
  • Shop the Magnificent Mile: I had a full day to myself and shopping the Magnificent mile on Michigan Avenue was on my list! There is almost every store you can think of, lined with beautiful flowers and incredible architecture. It reminded me a bit of 5th Ave in NYC. Lets just say the mile kept me busy all day. 🙂
  • Take a pic at the Bean: You can’t visit Chicago without heading to Millenium Park and taking a photo at the Bean! I was so excited to check out this iconic spot.
  • Take a lap around Wrigley field and/or check out a Cubs game!
  • Restaurant Recommendations:

Writing this post is making me want to book another trip back to Chicago! Have you been? Would love to hear your recommendations for your next visit as well! xo

Greeted at the finish line with these macaroons, thank you Jeff!

(Some photos taken by myself, others by Jeff and a few professional shots as well.)

The Paris Marathon was truly an unforgettable experience. Just being in this beautiful city alone was spectacular. We ran a slow 4 hour and 30 minute pace, which was perfect to actually take in our surroundings.  The course was flat, and the first half was pretty easy, but the last got difficult approaching mile 20 or so. I think you can see with my expressions that I was struggling a bit! But most importantly we made it, had SO much fun and would do it again in a heartbeat. Actually, day of the race I told myself this would be my last marathon, but as time has gone by I’ve had a change of heart and searching for another! Running is quite the addicting sport. The feeling of accomplishment easily replaces any negative thoughts. Going through the finish line and getting that medal was actually a little emotional. We did it! This was easily the best feeling in the world.

That day we went out to celebrate and once that post-marathon feeling of needing food and water went away we were ready to explore the city. Surprisingly walked out of it not sore at all!  It just so happened to be Luba’s 30th birthday which made the race that much more fun. Can’t wait to share more photos from the trip in an upcoming post. 🙂

2013 Goals

It’s resolution time! Time to start the quest of taking action, rather than simply making resolutions and not sticking to them. I feel as if it helps to write them down and share them, while pushing to make this a great year! Here’s what I have on my mind for 2013:

  • Become a certified group class instructor
  • Sweat everyday
  • Meal prep every Sunday for the upcoming week
  • Start a morning workout regime (before work…tough!)
  • Blog more! =)
  • Travel more and explore different cultures
  • Stay away from negative people and things that hold me back
  • Learn from successful people
  • Set higher goals! (work on seeing those abs of mine, determined!!)

Most of all—->I think it’s so important to strive for excellence rather than perfection.

I have big expectations for myself, but it’s time to set the bar high and keep track of these goals!

What are your new years resolutions?
